A positive C-Section

I thought I was going to feel disappointed as I had all these plans about staying at home and labouring naturally but instead I felt safe, secure and informed.

Baby Elisa was born on 1st December at 00.05am 🙂

As I mentioned to you in my last email I have been having some back problems recently and when I went for my 38 week doctors appointment he sent me straight to hospital for an MRI. Turns out that I have a torn ligament near my spine and spinal discs protruding. Leaving me with no option but to either schedule a C-section or have a trail of labor and moving to an emergency C section if doctors think it’s not safe .

As the doctor was explaining the results to me my waters broke leaving me an hour to decide on which way I want to proceed. I decided to go with the C section as it was the safest option for my back.

I thought I was going to feel disappointed as i had all these plans about staying at home and labor naturally but instead I just felt safe, secure and informed, that I’m doing the right decision and the whole operation went fine. I felt great throughout the surgery and after.

Now I don’t know if it is the reason, but taking the time to read and learn about birth beforehand through hypnobirthing I think I was in the right mind frame to take a decision and not feel in the dark and confused. Even if it didn’t go to plan.

Thanks for the help.
